Update: Since late 2023, the EspaciosJunta application has been renamed EspaciosCultura. It is available on both iOS and Android.
This week, the presentation of the EspaciosJunta application took place at Itálica. The Minister of Culture and Historical Heritage, Ms. Patricia del Pozo Fernández, and the Minister of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge, and Universities, Mr. Rogelio Velasco Pérez, accompanied by the Mayor of Santiponce, Mr. Justo Delgado Cobo, and the Territorial Director of Vodafone in Andalusia, Mr. Rafael Alcaide, participated in the event at the Archaeological Site.
The EspaciosJunta application is based on the Everpaths platform by ITSOFT. Everpaths provides a comprehensive solution for indoor and outdoor location and guidance. It offers interactive maps, localization and guidance features, analytical tools, and geopositioned multimedia content.
The city of Itálica provided the ideal setting to introduce a new feature: Augmented Reality.
This innovation will allow users to experience a more immersive visit to the site. They will be able to explore in real-time how the amphitheater looked, with its 40-meter-high stands, as well as the ‘domus’ House of the Birds, with its rooms and mosaics, many of which are incomplete or have disappeared today.
EspaciosJunta was first implemented in museums in late 2018, starting with the Museum of Fine Arts in Seville.
Itálica becomes the second site, but it will not be the last, as there are plans to gradually expand the application to the rest of the Archaeological Sites in Seville.
